A large, full-service collections company, Encore Receivable Management has 86 call centers located throughout the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Latin America, and Europe. While Encore Receivable Management collects upon a variety of debts, it specializes in debts related to wireless carriers, cable television, retail, banks, credit cards, and auto loans.

Encore Receivable Management is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau, but based on customer feedback, long length of time in operation, and thorough response to customer complaints, it has been given an overall A+ rating. Despite this high rating, there have been complaints lodged against Encore Receivable Management for heavy-handed collection tactics. Encore Receivable Management has been accused multiple times for incessantly calling consumers, in particular, although others claim that they are usually quick to resolve these problems if informed in writing of a desire to end such calls.

Some of these excessive calling tactics have led to formal complaints of harassment in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). All such FDCPA lawsuits that have gotten to court have quickly been settled. Other FDCPA complaints have included accusations of illegal use of pre-recorded messages, disclosure of debts to unauthorized third parties, and not properly validating debts when requested to do so. At least one FDCPA lawsuit related to illegal use of prerecorded calls against Encore Receivable Management was given class action status and is still in settlement.
